DDMA Speaker Series - May 8, 2006, 1PM - STC conference room (Building 32, Room 134)

Richard Tsai (University of Texas, Austin)

I will present a collection of problems and approaches related to path planning with visibility objectives. I will start with an efficient algorithm for constructing an implicit interfacing separating visible and occluded regions from a given observing location. With this implicit notion of visibility, techniques related calculus of variation can be used to study certain optimization problems.
