Flocking behavior describes the evolution of a system of autonomous elements that maintain a group structure and interaction without a central control. The quintessential examples are bird flocks and fish schools whose dynamics appear orchestrated. This project seeks to extend flocking behavior models to account for observed deviations from simple flocking behavior. Potential areas of study include goal seeking, avoidance, defensive behavior, flocking initiation, feeding strategies, and small flock behavior. Models will be tested against analysis of real video.
