Research
My research interests lie within the broad areas of signal and image processing. My recent work on image coding has been directed towards the development of subband decompositions for Part 2 of the JPEG2000 image coding standard, and the development of compression algorithms appropriate for large scientific data sets for Part 10 of the same standard. Related to image coding is an interest in multiresolution stochastic image models, which also have a wider range of applications. My interest in adaptive signal decompositions includes the inverse problems that are often involved in their construction, and the theoretical analysis of the stability of the resulting reconstructions
